Shakespeare on Twitter?
There's never been a more exciting time to be a teacher. Today, a wealth of technology allows us to engage our students in innovative ways, as we build literacy, writing, and critical thinking skills. Equally importantly, technology allows us to collect data to create detailed profiles of each student, so we can adjust our instruction to fit their individual strengths and needs. Can I teach to the California State Standards, prepare students for life in a digital world, and also impart an appreciation for classic literature? Aye! 'Tis one good venture!
Writer. Programmer. English Teacher.
My professional experience includes nearly a dozen years as an advertising copywriter working on national accounts at top advertising agencies. During this time, I wrote ads for magazines, newspapers, radio, television, and the Internet.
I have another twelve years' experience as a Web designer. In this capacity, I have been training users of technology for the past seven years. I have up-to-date working knowledge of all the most commonly used Web development and design software, including Adobe Creative Suite.
I am always excited when I can find ways to use my experience as a professional writer and researcher to help students find relevance in their English-language arts studies. I believe that it's important to include opportunities for career exploration at every grade level and in every subject that I teach.
